UNDER MY SKIN

Clay, with its pliability and organic texture, became an ideal medium to embody the concept of disease and bodily vulnerability. I shaped the clay into irregular, virus-like forms, deliberately distorting their structures to evoke a sense of discomfort and unease. Over time, I layered the surfaces with skin-like textures, suggesting the spread and infiltration of illness beneath the body’s surface.

The process was not only material exploration but also metaphorical—clay allowed me to physically mold the invisible presence of disease into tangible forms. My approach was influenced by German artist Pedro González’s Emorgi at the Emoji Orgy, particularly the unsettling and grotesque qualities of the faces in his video. Inspired by that strangeness, I emphasized uncanny details in my own work, heightening the tactile sensation of fragility and intrusion.
